[Kien] Distributed localization using Bluetooth 5.2

Project outside the university

Kien

Kien is a young and fast-growing audio brand that aims to bring great sound quality, flexibility of use, and state-of-the-art technologies wrapped in unique designs into the consumer's home. Kien® is currently conquering the market with an innovative high-quality audio system that sounds like home anywhere you go. As the next step of its journey, Kien is developing the next generation of high-quality audio.

Assignment

The goal of this project is to determine the location of the user in the room. There are several possibilities to do so; one of which is the “Direction finding” feature of the latest “Bluetooth® 5.2” technology. As an MSc student, you will be working closely with the R&D team of Kien and will develop distributed localization algorithms which are energy-efficient and suitable for a dynamic system and environment

Requirements

A self-motivated student with a strong background in linear algebra and statistical signal processing. In addition, a student with strong interest or experience in distributed signal processing and machine learning is preferred. Previous experience with localization, synchronization and navigation projects is an added plus. Advanced coding skills in MATLAB and Python (or R) is required. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English is mandatory. The expected project duration is about 9 to 12 months.
